CHÂTEAU Gbeľany is located in the village of Gbeľany, approximately 7 km from the city of Žilina. In its surroundings, you will find many interesting places worth visiting.
Park
Even though the extensive English park ceased to be maintained in 1945 with the departure of the château’s last owners, the Majláth family, it brings a unique charm to the whole grounds. The current owners have decided to improve the park and preserve its original shape. You can relax while wandering around in these quiet surroundings, rest on the benches along the paths or soak in the historic atmosphere.
Summer
The Malá Fatra National Park is crossed by many marked hiking paths for families with children and demanding hikers to enjoy.

The highest peak is Veľký Kriváň (alt. 1709m) and Jánošíkove diery and Rozsutce are also popular. The Malá Fatra region offers many opportunities for visitors to spend their free time. Cyclists can choose from numerous cycling paths which cover the whole Malá Fatra region. Rafting on the Váh river and the rope park in Terchová are also easy to access. There is a total of over 645 km of cycling paths for experienced cyclists as well as amateurs and young cyclists.
Winter
The Vrátna Free Time Zone ski resort is one of the most modern resorts in Slovakia. The Paseky resort is ideal for family skiing.
The free car parks in the heart of the resort have capacity for over 400 cars. Ski and snowboard schools, ski rental shops and ski and snowboard service centres are available here. There are various opportunities for refreshments next to the ski tows. The north-west facing ski slopes offer sporting experiences for beginners, advanced and very good skiers and snowboarders. Paseky hosts every year international alpine skiing and snowboarding competitions. The Ski Gavurky resort, best suited for beginners and children, is situated in the very centre of Terchová and food can be enjoyed on the slopes. The international ski resort Snowparadise Veľká Rača Oščadnica lies in the Kysucké Beskydy mountain range. Its best feature is its surface area and ski slopes of all levels of difficulty, with a total length of almost 14.5 km. To add a little variety, there is a skifox and bobsleigh track which is the resort’s greatest attraction. The Malá Fatra also offers opportunities for cross-country skiing. Ski marches and races take place here regularly. There are almost 16 km of tracks for classic and free-style cross-country skiing between Belá and Terchová. The track along the Kysucká magistrála between Krásno nad Kysucou and Nová Bystrica is also usually well maintained.
